Engine Optimization Tips
The Basics
|
|
Keywords and Keyword
Phrases Are VERY
Important in the First Paragraph of Your
Body Text
Search engines working their way from
top to bottom as they crawl through your
site will pick up most relevant
information in the first paragraph
of your web pages. In your first
paragraph, place
keyword loaded
information about your company.
But you do have to be cool about it
because there is a possible penalty by
certain search engines if your keyword
density is to heavy or reads nonsense. |
|
Keywords in your Header
Tags
Your
web header is at the top of the your web
browser. This is considered a real
important place to place keywords
and phrases. These positions are
also know as H1, H2, and H3 tags.
Bummer is that this may not work well
with CSS sites (Cascading Style Sheet ).
But if your site designer has your site
running CSS, Make sure your designer
defines these tags in the CSS instead of
creating headline tags with other names. |

Compose
Several Pages Focused on Particular
Keywords
I
like to call this keyword blogging of
sorts. Once you have you series of
particular keywords and phrases, write
some new pages that contains
these keywords and add the to your site.
For example, write up a weekly
newsletter about your company progress
and be sure to place your selected
keywords/phrases in the body of the
newsletter. As well, you can
re-purpose this newsletter for all of
your customers who have signed. As
you create more pages on your site with
the chosen keywords/phrases, the search
engine bots will have more information
to collect. But beware of the
density of your keywords in each page.
As these pages are brought up on the
search engines people will visit and
you'll want your articles to make sense. |
Writing Description and Keyword META
Tags
Most personal web designing software has
a setting called "page properties".
When you go into your page properties
you will see an area where you can place
a page description and important
meta-tags. Try to hit the bullet
points of your company in the
description but keep real short. Also,
don't load it with keywords where this
might not work well for you. And for
your meta-tag section obviously but your
keywords and phrases there.
Use Keywords in
Hyperlinks
Search
engine bots think that active links has
more important information that plain
text placement. Another way to get
search engines to recognize keywords and
phrases is to create
active hyperlinks
on your web pages that has your keywords
or phrases. So when naming your links as
you build your site or in your activated
hyperlinks, you might want to do the
following to better your chances:

Submit Your Webpage URL
to Search Engines YOURSELF!
Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL Search, and
Ask.com have real easy submission pages
for you to submit your URL. You
want to focus in on the top search
engines and do the submission yourself
so you can see the process (takes about
2 minutes).
Another cool thing about these top sites
is that they too feed search content to
the other main search engines and portal
sites. As far as mass-submitting
software and, I suggest to stay away from that
so you can learn about the process of search
engines unless you don't have the time
and you have a on-site webmaster.

Industry Sites and
Specialized Directories Submissions -
Deep Linking
Look for link directories that are
focused on your industry and submit your
link. Even if you belong to other
trade associations and networks, see if
you can submit your link with the. You
may even have to pay a bit but this is a
sure way to boos your PageRanking.
Beware of directories that solicit you
for "upgraded listings." Unless a
directory is widely used in your field,
your premium ad won't help but the
link itself will help boost your
PageRank and hence your search engine
ranking. Marginal directories come and
go very quickly, making it hard to keep
up. Don't try to be exhaustive here. |

Submit Your Products To
Goggles NEW Product Search
Feature!
Shoppers can quickly and easily
find your products when you
submit them in Product Search,
delivering you more traffic and
helping you increase sales.
Based on your items' relevance,
shoppers may find them in their
results for searches on Google
Product Search, and even our
main Google web search. And if
you're a Google Checkout
merchant, the Checkout badge
will appear on your Product
Search listings, attracting even
more visitors to your site.
Inclusion in Product Search is
completely free; there are no
charges for uploading your items
or charges for the traffic you
receive. |

Naming Images Is Just as Important
You
might have noticed that now when you
search on Goggle, you now have a series
of choices in how they deliver the
results.

When you name the images that you create
for your website, try to name them with
the same keywords that best describes
your product. For example, if
you're selling red ukulele's as a
product that is sensitive to your
keywords, then save the image as
red-ukulele-1.jpg. The search
engine will see that and will place them
in the "image search" section of their
engine. |
