They Said
WHAT About My Company?
As
powerful of a tool the internet can be for blowing up
your company so can the same be said for breaking
down your company. Buzztracking or Brand Monitoring
is when you do research on what people are saying about
your company.
A good
way to buzztrack your company is to type not so typical
search phrases. Let's say your company name is ABC
Gum and you want to do some random searches on what
people might be saying about your company.
If you
just type in ABC Gum then most likely the search engine
is going to serve up keyword and SEO related
information......pretty generic. But if you type
in more of the normal chat like "ABC Gum sucks because"
or "ABC Gum is the best" then you are more likely to get
results served up to you based on blogs, forums,
articles and web 2.0 type discussions.
This
is a great way to learn about what the public is saying
about you. Though everyone has an opinion, if you
read things on the site that you might actually be an
issue with your company and it's something that you can
address, then you're ahead of the game.
Buzztracking is a great way to affect new PR as well as
damage control. If you find articles that people
are talking smack about you, you can address that with
that person via the forum, blog responce or type of post. If you
handle that issue in a public forum it shows integrity
and other will take notice.
Buzztrack your company often and keep an eye on what
people are saying. This is a great way to stay
sharp and even grow your company.
