Cutting Through The Social Media Noise With Your Dog Whistle Campaign


Busting Through the Noise of Social Media

Now you think you’re ready to take your dream of success online into a social media realm but you’re not sure how to create a REMARK-ABLE campaign.  This is the dilemma of almost 90% of all start-up or first time social media; being able to release content that other remark about.

But now you have to cut through the social media noise and overload.  Here are a couple of mind-numbing stats for you to review when it comes to the amount of content release on social media that is blasting tones of noise into the end-user, competing for their attention:

  • 1,300,000,000. 300hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute!
  • On Facebook there are over 300 Million photos uploaded every day, with 58 million photo uploads per hour, 243,000 photo uploads per minute, and 4,000 photo uploads per second.
  • There are around 9 billion video views on Facebook per day.
  • On Instagram there are an average of 60 million photos uploaded every day.
  • Every second, on average, around 6,000 tweets are tweeted on Twitter (visualize them here), which corresponds to over 350,000 tweets sent per minute, 500 million tweets per day and around 200 billion tweets per year.

On September 6th at the Hawaii Internet Marketers Association conference I’ll be talking about the fails and successes of the countless campaigns I have released.  Almost every time I tried to craft a “viral hit” I failed and learned great lessons.  At the same time, every time I release a piece of crap off-the-cuff I got the most views and content response and engagement and again, I learned major lessons.

My session at the Hawaii Internet Marketers Association is going to focus on you becoming a creative director of content that will stick to your social media profiles, secure your search engine target and draw people to ENGAGE!  BLOW YOUR DOG WHISTLE!

Okay, you want an example?  Okay here ya go…..

So I do non-profit works.  One of my initiatives revolves around the Ukulele.  I want to raise enough money to buy 300 Ukulele’s for Hawaii’s keiki that are underprivileged.

While I write a couple of songs and do a couple of videos I realize that so many people didn’t know how to play the Kazoo – the main “fun thing” I use for my caricature called Abba Geebz.

So I decide that I’ll do a video on how to play the Kazoo thinking that a few people would get a kick out of it.  Little did I know that it would draw close to 300,000 views and earn me close to $400 in Google Ad Revs.

On the other hand, videos I’ve done on how to play the Ukulele and cool songs are under 5k views accept the ones that are covers of other songs – i.e. “How to play Someone to Lava on the Ukulele” – There is my DOG WHISTLE and I’ll share with you why it is at the session.

Of course the main reason to produce social media content is to engage but it’s also for search rankings.  So, go ahead, search “how to play the kazoo” and tell me what you see J There is the “Dog Whistle” of my social media.

So at the session I’m going to share with you the “how” and the new “why” I now produce social media content that will rip through the social media noise and engage with the very people you want to bring to your initiative and talk about you.
